What is Skin Quality?
Skin quality refers to the overall evaluation of facial skin. This includes factors such as skin tightness, suppleness, moisture level, smoothness and clearness.

What are the treatments that can help to improve skin quality?
Launched in Italy back on February 2015 by IBSA and CE-marked, Profhilo is now available in over 56 countries with more than 500,000 treatments performed dated December 2018.
Our body produces Hyaluronic acid naturally and it is found in our skin, joints and other connective tissues. With the ability to hold 1000 times its weight in water, hyaluronic acid is essential to keep our skin hydrated and supple. Its main role is to retain moisture and support collagen production. Due to aging, hyaluronic acid production depletes over the years, contributing to lacklustre, dry and wrinkly complexion.
Profhilo contains one of the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid (64mg/ 2ml) available in the market, but it is not a “filler”. A “filler” is injected to replace volume loss or augment various parts of the face such as the cheek, tear trough, jawline, or chin.
Profhilo is the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for improving skin elasticity, delivers deep skin hydration and treating skin laxity. Delivered through 5 injection points on each side of the face, the treatment has little to no pain and minimal downtime.
For filler to be harder and longer lasting, cross linking agents known as BDDE are commonly used. For Profhilo, a patented technology known as Nahyco technology is used to result in hybrid cooperative complexes between high molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid and low molecular Hyaluronic Acid without the use of any cross linking agents. These hybrid cooperative complexes help to improve the stability of Hyaluronic acid to enzymatic and mechanical
Profhilo contains hybrid cooperative complexes of 32 mg of hyaluronic acid of high molecular weight (1100 – 1400 kDa) and 32 mg of hyaluronic acid of low molecular weight (80-100 kDa).
The low molecular weight hyaluronic acid is released slowly from the hyaluronic acid hybrid complexes of Profhilo without causing any inflammatory cytokines. This not only makes it very biocompatible, but also increases comfort for patients during and after the treatment, while providing hydration in the epidermis known as the Hydro effect. On the other hand, high molecular weight hyaluronic acid stipulates an unwavering hyaluronic architecture in the dermis giving a volumetric effect known as the Lift effect.
Another noticeable plus point of the hybrid complex is that it stimulates the production of type I and type III collagen in fibroblast and type IV and VII collagen in keratinocytes, resulting in better skin quality and hydration in both the dermis and epidermis. Not only that, it also rises production of hyaluronic acid and elastin by the body, presenting the complexion with a more refreshed and youthful look.
In vitro studies, the technique of performing a given procedure in a controlled environment outside of a living organism, Profhilo have be shown to improve the extracellular environment – providing optimal conditions for sustainability of fibroblasts, keratinocytes and adipocytes which leads to the remodeling of the extracellular matrix for improvement in elasticity and support.
Due to Profhilo’s high consistency, its ability to flow evenly throughout the entire anatomic unit helps to expand fat compartments and tissue integration even in difficult areas where fillers may cause dimpling. This unique structure of Profhilo allows it to flow smoothly across the skin to boost hydration, smoothen wrinkles and achieve “remodeling” in just 5 injections on each side of the face. Over the next 3 – 4 weeks, Profhilo kick starts the production of elastin and collagen, remodeling the skin tissue and giving it a pumper and tighter look radiating a natural glow.
Profhilo is also recommended for the neck, décolletage, inner arm laxity and and forehead which are usually challenging to treat with traditional fillers.
Profhilo is delivered through 5 injection points on each side of the face. There is little to no pain and no downtime.
Recommended number of sessions: 2-3 sessions* at monthly intervals, Profhilo can last between 6 – 12 months.

Profhilo can be used on its own or in conjunction with other fillers, laser treatments or botulinum toxins as a complementary treatment.
2) Rejuran – Suitable for all skin types
Originating from South Korea, Rejuran is made of polynucleotide (PN) which is derived from Salmon Sperm DNA. It falls under the umbrella of regenerative medicine, helping ageing and damaged skin with healing and regeneration properties. Some even call it an anti-ageing injection – as it improves one’s overall skin appearance by stimulating the regenerative powers of our DNA to optimise skin health.
What’s more, Rejuran is safe and biocompatible with human DNA – and doesn’t cause adverse side effects, or sculpt and augment features like fillers would.
Rejuran Healer is not like traditional fillers or laser treatments. It fundamentally regenerates and heals skin by activating the self-renewal ability of the inner skin. It improves skin elasticity by making epidermis and dermis healthy again and restores damaged (aged) skin caused by skin aging and photo-damage.

3) JUVEDERM Volite
Volite from JUVEDERM contain cross-linked hyaluronic acid that is a patented VYCROSS® technology. This unique process combines low and high molecular weight Hyaluronic acid to increase the cross-linking efficiency of HA chains. What is so different is that while most hyaluronic acid fillers use 100% high molecular weight, VYCROSS® uses only 10% high molecular weight hyaluronic and 90% low molecular weight hyaluronic acid.
Volite is injected into the middle layers of the dermis across many injections sites to nourish the skin. Acting like a water reservoir, it attracts water molecules and retain them by binding them in the skin to result in a plumper, healthier and smoother complexion.
As treatment is delivered through a series of injections, there might be some swelling, bruising and erythema post treatment.
Recommended number of sessions: 1 session and once every 6 – 9 months
4) Restylane Skinboosters
Restylane® Skinboosters™ is a type of stabilized, non-animal origin Hyaluronic acid injectable that is delivered into the mid to deep dermis layer of the skin to replace the loss of Hyaluronic acid. During treatment, a series of micro-injections is directed just below the surface of the skin. These injections are performed to activate fibroblasts, a type of cell that promotes new collagen and elastin formation, and to deliver hyaluronic acid, to attract and retain water to skin.
With the increase ability of moisture retention, the skin is firmer and has a healthier and stronger structure. The deep hydration helps improve elasticity, reduce surface roughness and pore size, giving the complexion a radiant and dewy look with face-lifting effects.
